Article 7 - Vision

Valuable Vision

Are you maximising the value of your vision?

What do you want your company to be? What do you want it to achieve in the long term? How can you encapsulate all of the goals of the venture in one impactful statement?

Having a strong vision statement can be incredibly valuable for all stakeholders. For founders it can provide an important benchmark to assess performance and a direction of travel, but perhaps most importantly it can help bring others along for the journey.

Building and motivating a capable team is a key element of successfully growing a business. Providing inspiration and setting a clear direction is considered by employees to be one of the most important organisational capabilities of a leader for managing performance.

For customers and suppliers, expressing a clear vision can help to boost engagement and loyalty as well as demonstrating understanding of how they can provide consistent, long term solutions. Developing strong customer and operational engagement at an early stage can be invaluable as the company grows.

Investors also use a company vision as part of their investment decision. It can help show them where the company might be in 12 or 24 months. It might tell them how big the idea is, how transformative it is and how much it is all going to cost as well as suggesting the quality of the fit with their own purpose.

A strong and clear expression of a company vision can achieve so much for early stage businesses. At Colab-8, we work with founders to maximise the clarity of their message and to ensure their vision is used to direct all of their decisions in growing their businesses.
